Women are often expected to be very good at taking care of their personal hygiene. Most people would say that a woman’s chances of being courted will drop if they fail at being clean and good-smelling. There may be a large group of women who suffer from embarrassing conditions like vaginal smell, but don’t worry because Dr. Liza Ramoso-Ong has your back ladies!
Dr. Liza Ramoso-Ong first explains to us that clean and healthy female private parts don’t have a smell. This is because our privates have good bacteria in them that cleanses the body part for us. Sometimes, however, infections and an imbalance in hormones can cause a funky smell down there.
Of course, the obvious question is how do we get rid of this unwanted smell and become confident again? Well, Dr. Ramoso-Ong shares that a proper shower done daily is sure to cure us of this condition. It also wouldn’t hurt if women consistently wash their private parts correctly.
She said that we should be mindful about how we wipe and wash our genitals. The correct way is to do it from the front all the way to the back. This is to ensure that bacteria from our rectum will never enter the sensitive area.
Dr. Liza also said that we should change our cotton underwear twice a day or more. This is to lessen the amount of bacteria accumulated in the genitals because they are the ones causing the smell. You should also use mild soap that do not have any fragrances like the plain Dove, Johnson’s, and Tender Care in lukewarm water. Water-based lotions are also ideal so that it wouldn’t irritate the sensitive skin.
Certain types of food are also factors to this condition. Dr. Liza states that one should avoid both smelly and sugary food because the former would come out through our sweat while the latter would cause our sugar levels to increase, thus resulting in a yeast infection.
We should eat yogurt because of the presence of good bacteria and to drink lots and lots of water.
