Filipinos are lovers of food but sometimes, it also causes a lot of problems for our bodies. Here are some effective tips to effectively care for our digestive system.
Dr. Liza Ong starts us off by naming the proper food we must eat to guarantee a smoother digestion. The first would be cauliflower and zucchini because our stomach finds them easy to break down. Papaya and pineapple are also great additions to our diet because they are soft and filled with fibers. Cabbage, on the other hand, is great for battling stomach ulcers and cancers because it’s high in calcium and fiber.
Bell peppers of various kinds should also be considered because it neutralizes the acid found in the stomach. Potatoes are also our stomach’s best friend because its carbohydrates calm down the stomach.
For those who suffer from constipation, never forget to drink lots of water and to eat the food we have listed down because most of these are high in fiber.
Food with high levels of fiber is happily welcomed by our stomach because it can battle diseases such as colon cancer, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Porridge, apples, and corn are top picks for those who have a hard time defecating or for those who have diarrhea.
Dr. Willie Ong takes over the video to talk about one of the most common stomach problems experienced by people. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (or GERD) is caused by the acid present in our bellies which can lead to painful sensations like indigestion, soreness, and excess air inside. This disease can be caused by inhaling nicotine, alcohol, carbonated soft drinks, oily hamburgers, and sweet desserts.
You can also have GERD if you are overweight or constipated. Those who also lie down immediately after eating are susceptible to this condition. One way to prevent this serious illness would be to eat the proper food, like the ones Dr. Liza mentioned.
