Know when your simple chest pain indicates heart attack

Chest pain is incredibly common for both men and women, which causes a lot of people to undermine it when they experience one. However, according to our “Doktor ng Bayan” Dr. Willie Ong, chest pains can actually be a tell-tale sign of an impending heart attack.

During the worst case scenario, a victim can die from a heart attack in under five minutes. This deadly medical condition can strike anywhere and anytime. That’s why it’s important to be observant of the signs before it happens.

When should you be concerned about your chest pain? Although a dull pain in your chest area can mean a lot of things, they are actually different for men and women. However, there’s only one thing we should watch out for–when this simple chest pain turns out to be fatal.

According to Dr. Willie Ong, one must be wary of the following signs to avoid a heart attack:

  1. If you experience pain and discomfort in the middle of your chest, this is usually a bad sign. Your heart is located on the left side of your chest, but it can affect nearby areas as well.
  2. If you find yourself suffering from sudden abdominal pains, it’s also recommended to visit your doctor.
  3. The same goes for a debilitating pain in your lower jaw and neck.

Furthermore, there are several indicators that determine whether or not someone is afflicted with heart disease. If you are experiencing a stabbing pain, then there’s a high chance that it is not heart-related. Usually, a person with a heart condition feels a dull and suffocating pain in the chest area.

Another test you can take is if you’re having difficulty in breathing. When you inhale deeply, do you feel pain in your chest area? If so, then Dr. Willie Ong claimed that you might have lung issues such as pneumonia or pneumonitis.
