Dr. Willie Ong lists the fruits that may lead to weight gain

When it comes to eating, care must also be taken to prevent overeating. Renowned medical expert Dr. Willie Ong has recently listed some tips regarding the consumption of certain fruits.

The health tips include reducing your consumption of dried fruits and canned fruits and limiting the use of sugar in your fruit shake.

In addition to the list, the Doktor ng Bayan explained the negative effect of eating too many fruits every day.

  1. Choose the right fruits. 

If you’re on a healthy diet, you should consider eating fruits such as apples, pears,  melons, watermelons, bananas, and strawberries. Melons and watermelons is made up of a significant amount of water. They are also low in calories. One banana has 100 calories but it can easily make you feel full.

Fruits high in calories are avocado (322 calories each), grapes (106 calories for every cup),  mangoes (107 calories for every slice in half),  and prunes (100 calories for every 5 pieces). In comparison, one cup of rice has an equivalent of 200 calories only.  So, what will you choose ― one cup of rice or one slice mango?

2. Limit your consumption per day to at least three to four fruit servings. 

According to medical experts, every person should only consume three to four fruit servings a day.  One fruit serving should only be as follows: half slice of a mango, 12 pieces of grapes, one banana, one apple, or a half liter of fruit juice.

So, eating two whole mangoes is already equivalent to the maximum fruit servings a day. Consequently, consuming more than the maximum can lead to weight gain.

3. Always eat vegetables.

Fruits contain three times more calories than vegetables. Therefore, the reason that makes a person to gain weights faster.

Because vegetables have low levels of calories,  you can freely consume cabbages, water spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, and Moringa Oleifera, and others. It’s advisable to eat two cups of vegetables every day.

As a matter of fact, eating fruits and vegetables are good for our health. However, only consume the suggested servings per day.
