Tips to help ease the pain in your neck, back, hands, knee, and feet

Everyone will probably agree that suffering from severe pain in various parts of our body is a major dilemma. This usually gives a feeling of discomfort especially when we’re unaware of its cause. Today renowned medical experts, Dr. Willie Ong and his loving wife Dr. Liza Ramoso-Ong will discuss with you the most common causes of various pains in the body and how to treat them.

According to the good doctors, the common parts that are usually susceptible to pain are the — back, neck, shoulders, knees, hands, and feet.  These areas are basically made out of joints that are formed where bones come together. When bones become injured or fractured, the condition can contribute to severe body pain, poor posture and inability to walk or stand properly.

In case you don’t know Vitamin D, Calcium and Phosphorus are responsible for building strong and dense bones in the body.  Vitamin D helps the body absorb and retain more calcium while Calcium and Phosphorus supports their structure and hardness.

Sources of Vitamin D

Exposure to early morning sunlight for 10 to 15 minutes, preferably before 9 o’clock in the morning.
Fatty fishes such as salmon, tilapia, tuna, and “tamban”.

peanut butter
cheese
pizza
tofu
soy milk

 

Unbeknownst to many, Arthritis does not only occur among old people. Also, it’s not a single disease that refers only to knee pain. Thus, it is an informal way to refer a joint pain or joint disease. That it is why it is safe to say that even children can experience arthritis. According to Dr. Willie, there are over a hundred types of arthritis that occur in the body and they can cause severe discomfort.

 

Neck Pain

If you are suffering from stress then you are probably prone to having discomfort in the neck. This is because stress has an effect on the muscles in your neck.

What to do:

Do neck exercises
Apply warm or cold compress on the affected area.

Back Pain

Some people who suffer from chronically severe discomfort on their back may have the disorder called Scoliosis. This condition refers to the abnormal curvature of the spine.

What to do:

If you work in an office, make sure that you are using a chair that has a good backrest to avoid lower back pain.
In case you don’t have a  high back office chair then you can use a pillow or cushion to support your back. 
When sleeping, use a leg pillow to help support your body.
Use a warm compress for 10-15  minutes.
Practice proper sitting position.

Hand Pain

If you are suffering from discomfort in the wrist, or in your hands and fingers this can prevent you from doing your usual activities. Common symptoms are numbness, tingling,  weakness, and discomfort in the fingers and hands.

What to do:

Carpal tunnel exercise
Proper rest
Avoid from opening tight jars
Keep yourself from carrying heavy stuff
When sleeping, place your hand above your chest to avoid swelling and compression of nerves

 

Knee Pain

Knee pain usually causes swelling in the affected area.  This happens when the knee joint suffers from regular wear and tear, thus resulting in a worn-out cartilage and ligaments.

What to do:

When bringing heavy equipment or baggage ask someone to help you.
Place a cushion before kneeling on the floor.
Avoid going up and down the stairs.

Foot  Pain

There are various causes of foot pain. In most cases, injury in the nerves of the feet results in severe pain, a tingling feeling, and numbness in the area.

What to do:

Wear rubber shoes that are soft and has a cushion.
If possible, keep yourself from wearing high-heeled shoes and stilettos.
